Due to the large volume of FAL & refinishing work I have to do, I am suspending new HK gunsmithing until further notice. Jayson Cotter at InvestmentGradeFirearms.com may be able to assist you.
ARS is the authorized refinishing center for the HK USA repair department and has over 20 years of experience restoring HK firearms.

Federal law require "assault weapons banned from import, assembled in the US from imported parts, to have 7 US parts from a list of 20 major components. The 1994 moratorium on "assault weapon" manufacture has expired. HK rifles may have flash suppressors, bayonet mounts, grenade launchers, and collapsing stocks, providing the 7 US parts requirement is still met. Some states retained the 1994 assault weapons ban. Check your state laws.
ARS will assemble and refinish METACOL III Satin Black over Parkerizing your G3 parts kit on an FMP (Portugal), Springfield (Greek), JLD (PTR-91) or HK receiver. I will not work on Hesse (Vulcan), Speshul Wepunz, FAC (FA-91) receivers, Century Arms C-91 CETMEs, or home-folded flats. Customer supplies all parts.

Prices and Technical aspects of refinishing are described in detail in the Finishes section.
HK Short-Barrel Conversions
I invented the HK91k conversion to obtain a 16" barrel, including the flash suppressor. This is a less-expensive way to obtain the look of a G3k without having to register the gun as a short-barreled rifle. Using my special fixtures and tooling, I can shorten and thread the barrel at 15" , without removing it from the receiver. This will be just in front of the grenade launcher mount. Permanently attaching the flash hider brings the overall length to approximately 16.5". The HK standard thread is M15x1.0 RH. I will touch-up the finish if necessary with METACOL III Satin Black on the barrel, and dark gray phosphate on the flash suppressor, as on the original. I can color-match black guns only, not the earlier blue-gray SACO imports.
I cannot shorten an HK 93 with the original style flash hider unless you register it with BATFE as a Short Barreled Rifle - $200 tax stamp, BATFE Form 5320.1 (Form 1). At the point it has to be cut and threaded, the tapered barrel is less than the minimum 15mm. I can do it with a longer flash suppressor of the G36 style.
I can shortened PTR 91 rifles with the non-tapered barrel, to 16" without permanently attaching the flash hider. This will leave the overall length approximately 17.5"
HK Scope Rail
I developed an efficient method for repeatable mounting and welding of a scope rail. This requires a refinish of the barreled receiver. Price is $350. Subtract $100 if the rifle is getting refinished anyway. The scope rail is aligned to and fits the spine stampings with less than .005" lateral play. Sometimes the rear sight base is slightly canted relative to the spine, and there is nothing I can do about it.
I will machine a window in the rail for those rifles with the serial number located on the spine. I machine a small clearance for the front lip of the rear sight base, and TIG weld front and rear, and at four points on each side.
HK Paddle Magazine Catch
Labor is $150. Parts are $50 standard or $75 for the anti-rattle, or you supply. Parts include paddle, 1/8" pin with adaptor sleeve, paddle, dogleg, push button, and pin. Parts may be purchased from RTG Parts . Touchup refinish only.
